STYLE INSPIRATION: Alison Mosshart

Alison Mosshart, of The Kills and super-group The Dead Weather, is the American queen of rock chic. Whilst clearly not affected by the Vogue side of fashion, Mosshart's infamous gold Dior Homme boots prove the interest is there. Her grunge-goth look is incredibly inspirational to style conscious rockers the world over.
Mosshart's look is worn-in, understated, untamed and effortless. Black skinny jeans are staple, as are leather jackets and men's tees. Her raven mane hangs unkempt and loose, and accessories include vintage sunglasses, faux fur and printed shawls. Mosshart wears her clothes once, twice, thrice... She states outfits are chosen from whatever lies nearest on her apartment's floor

Hearting The Ragged Priest

Ok, so as a blogger you should be totally open. This is a huge step for me; I'm revealing my favourite brand, a brand where I purchase my most treasured vintage-inspired treats. If rock n roll is your thing, then look no further. Say hello to...the Ragged Priest.

The RP is a haven if your drawn to the wardrobe of Janis Joplin or anything remotely leather and studded and looks fresh from the back of a Hells Angel. Highlights include; wool jumpers with leather and studded lapels, vintage Levi shorts ripped and dyed every shade of the neon rainbow, and cowgirl boots accessorised with Aztec print and western feathers. The RP can be found at their online boutique, their ebay store, and their concession in Topshop on Oxford Street. The website and ebay store also sell carefully selected vintage pieces.

Here's what you'll find...

Accessorising with Meg Mathews

The moment I walked into the scarf room last year at Liberty an array of beautiful prints caught my eye. I found myself bypassing the McQueen’s and heading straight over to this lovely display of silk scarves. The designer it turned out, was none other than original rock chick come yummy mummy turned print designer; Meg Mathews.

After the success of her gorgeous printed wallpaper Ms Mathews created her own range of luxurious scarves. Each are made in the UK with 100% silk and feature her own signature Russian Doll design. After the overload of skull scarves it's refreshing to see a new design.

Scarves really can make an outfit. There is nothing more stylish than a great pair of jeans paired with a basic top and customised with a statement scarf. As Meg say’s ‘I have always loved scarves, I love the way they can make an outfit and add personality to what you are wearing, they are versatile, exciting and definitely on trend’.

See below for my pick of the best. Wear all year long conventionally, as a head scarf or accessorise your swimsuit on the beach this summer. I’m heading to St Tropez in June and one of these will look just perfect teamed with my new crochet bikini.

Enjoy…
