STYLE INSPIRATION: Chloë Sevigny

I just really
love Chloë

Growing up in suburban Connecticut Sevigny was the local misfit; smoking cigarettes, experimenting with drugs and dreaming of escape.
At eighteen Sevigny moved to Brooklyn. Shortly after in 1993 the kooky teen was stopped on the street by a fashion editor from Sassy magazine. The editor admired the young girls quirky style and promptly offered her an internship at the magazine. Sassy labelled Sevigny the new IT Girl and threw her into the hip 1990s New York scene. After several appearances in the magazine Sevigny garnered further attention consequently appearing on the cover of Gigolo Aunts' 1994 recording Flippin' Out , the EP Full-On Bloom and featured in a video for Lemonheads. The model requests flew in and after picking up with old friend Harmony Korine, who had written the now cult indie film Kids, Sevigny was cast a part. The rest, as they say, is history.

I love her career almost as much as I love her clothes. Collectively I'd describe them both as avant-garde, slightly under the radar and full of indie kitsch.

Throw on some Nirvana and check out my favourite looks...

And finally...Chloe in Sassy magazine 1992...
